It can be a struggle to lose weight. Motivation is a fickle beast, you might be determined in the beginning only to lose steam after a few weeks. Those who have successfully met their weight loss goals have shared their best tricks.
Choosing your fitness goal is step number one. Have you calculated how much weight you want to lose? What is your overall goal for weight loss? Is there a certain clothing size you want to wear, or do you want your current wardrobe to fit you comfortably once again? Ask yourself whether you want some extra energy, or just to feel like you are in better shape.
Consider writing a journal to chronicle your weight loss. You can make your daily entries as brief or as detailed as you like. For instance, you can simply include a list of the foods you ate at each meal and your weight for that day. As you keep your food diary, use it to compare your weight loss to your diet. Make whatever adjustments you need to stay on track.
When you ignore your hunger you set yourself up to make bad choices about which foods to eat. Do not let this happen to you. Plan out what you want to eat a day or two in advance. Bring some of those snacks with you wherever you go. Going forward, practice the art of packing a brown bag lunch. You can save money and get in shape while doing it.
Being able to balance healthy eating and exercise is the key to permanent weight loss. It is important that you exercise three times a week or more. You should plan to do something you enjoy so this does not seem like such a challenge to you. Ask your friends to schedule a weekly walk or two with you. Short hikes on a nature trail or even just a walk through the neighborhood park can satisfy your thirst for the great outdoors and get you some exercise! Try going to a dance class to learn new ways to work out.
You shouldn’t bring foods into the house that you won’t be able to eat. At first your family may find it a bit difficult to adjust, but they will come to realize that it is important for all of you to be healthy. Pack your pantry and refrigerator with healthy food choices instead of junk. This doesn’t mean you have to go without snacks! One of the best snacks for both adults and children is fresh fruit. Granola is a healthy snack that any age group can enjoy.
Having the support of your family makes a big difference, Look to friends and family for support and encouragement. Your friends and family can motivate you when you are ready to quit. Your friends can be great motivators when you feel like being a couch potato and not working towards your goals. They know you’d do the same for them if the situation was reversed.
